The "Rich" lounge chair, designed in 1989 by Antonio Citterio for the Italian furniture manufacturer Moroso, combines classic elegance with the clean design language of the late 20th century. Its curved, semi-circular backrest flows seamlessly into the distinctive armrests, creating a harmonious, enveloping silhouette. The full upholstery in black leather underscores the timeless and representative character of this exceptional piece of seating.

The chair is in good vintage condition. The black leather is well-maintained and shows slight signs of wear due to age and use, mainly on the seat. The upholstery is in excellent condition, while the leather surfaces have retained their characteristic sheen.

A particularly characteristic feature of the design is the interplay between generous curves and precisely crafted details. The slightly outward-flaring backrest encloses the seating area and transitions into the gently rounded armrests. The front legs, which taper towards the bottom, form a visual extension of the armrests, while a recessed beechwood support forms the rear finish. A sturdy wooden frame with shape-retaining polyurethane foam upholstery ensures comfortable seating. The carefully crafted seams and subtle lines lend the chair its distinctive elegance.

The Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio, born in 1950 in Meda, is one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian furniture design. His designs are characterized by balanced proportions, high-quality materials, and a timeless aesthetic. For his work, he was awarded the renowned Compasso d’Oro in 1987 and 1995, among other honors. With the "Rich" model introduced in 1989, he succeeded in creating a modern interpretation of the classic club chair or bergère type, combining traditional forms with the understated elegance of the late 1980s.

The manufacturer Moroso, founded in Italy in 1952, is one of the internationally renowned producers of high-quality designer furniture. The family-owned company combines Italian craftsmanship with innovative manufacturing techniques and has collaborated with leading international designers for decades. The "Rich" collection, which includes sofas in addition to the chair, is exemplary of the combination of classic furniture tradition and modern Italian design.
