Tom Dixon-attributed Harley-Davidson motorcycle sculpture for Habitat in rattan, 1990

This extraordinary, almost life-sized motorcycle sculpture made of rattan, wicker, and bamboo is attributed to the British designer Tom Dixon and was probably created in connection with his work for Habitat in the late 1990s.

The sculpture interprets the iconic shape of a classic Harley-Davidson entirely with natural materials. The tank, wheels, fenders, seat, handlebars, headlights, engine block, exhaust system, and even the side bags were recreated with remarkable detail from bent rattan, bamboo, and various types of wickerwork.

This motorcycle sculpture is in very good to excellent original condition. The rattan and wickerwork are exceptionally well preserved overall, showing only minor signs of age and use. This subtle patina enhances the authentic vintage character of the object without detracting from its extraordinary overall impression.

Due to its dimensions and extraordinarily sculptural execution, this Harley goes far beyond a common decorative object.
